Today at the farm, we picked flowers for an event tonight, for a local restaurant, and one bouquet just for the heck of it.  Because I can.  Here’s a close-up:  Two types of hydrangea, Incrediball and Invincibelle Spirit, Chocolate Cosmos, Green Trick Dianthus, buplereum and obedient plant.

And these three beauties picked a gallon jug of beauties for $15.  It was a wonderful morning to pick flowers, not too hot, but full of sunshine.  Plan a trip out soon!

Farmers Market and new arrangements

We’ve made it to the Mt. Vernon Farmers Market the past two Thursdays. It was a pleasant day the first time, and pretty darn warm the second time.  Only 95 degrees or so, guess it could have been worse. I brought lilies, hydrangea, buplereum, chocolate cosmos, green trick dianthus, and pink cosmos, and made bouquets at the market. Market flowers

The warm weather this week also encouraged a lot of growth and blooming–including zinnias!  For some reason, the zinnias are blooming ahead of the snapdragons–weird pattern.  I made up a couple arrangements today for visitors.  There is a wide array of colors to choose from, even if the numbers of flowers is still a bit low.

See you at the Market or at the Flower Farm!

What’s blooming, June 28, 2011

And a few more photos of what is blooming:

Buplereum is a great filler, the soft green/yellow color goes with everything.

I have two different hydrangeas blooming at the moment. One is called Incrediball, and has large white blooms. The second is Invincibelle Spirit, and is a gorgeous raspberry color.

Lots of colors to mix and match. Hope to see you here at the farm!
